Author Jim Grindle of North Penobscot has recently published a history of the Back Ridge Road, which stretches from Route 1 in Orland to Route 15 in North Penobscot. Called "The Back Ridge and Beyond," the book chronicles the lives of Grindle's relatives and neighboring families from the late 1800s to the middle of the 20th century.—STAFF PHOTOS BY CYNDI WOOD
