Thirteen runners participated in the 7th Annual Great Pond Mountain Snowshoe Run at the Great Pond Wildlands in East Orland on Jan. 27. Snowshoe-racing is catching on as a sport in Downeast Maine. Other good places to practice the sport include the trails behind the Woodlawn Museum in Ellsworth, trails ands in East Orland and the carriage roads in Acadia National Park.— STAFF PHOTOS BY CYNDI WOOD
